Responsibilities of Ordinary Seaman
Job description:
- Carry out assigned duties in a safe and responsible manner
- Assist the officer of the watch (O.O.W) during watch-keeping duties, both at sea and in port and maintain close contract with the O.O.W regrading the ratings whereabouts
- Steer the ship as necessary
- Act as a lookout during bridge watch
- Execute night fire watch rounds
- Serve as a gangway or night watchman as instructed
- Assist the chief mate and or O.O.W in cargo securing when required
- Aid in cargo hold cleaning when instructed
